Babacool's tips ... HOW TO GO TO TURKEY ? There is a direct flight from Tokyo to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. When you are in Istanbul..Take a taxi ( they have all taximeter ) to Sultanahmet Area hotels, they are generally with 3 stars hotels but quite clean , resonabled prices and close to everywhere. At your hotel, you will find daily tours to basic interesting places. ( Kumkapi... is not on the list of tours but go there an evening and eat fish with Turkish music in a good ambience, very close to Hotel area. Also, take a boat and visit Prince Island ( Buyukada ) on daytime or boat lunch on Bosphorous. ) CLIMATE We have 4 seasons in Turkey. FOOD All kind of... Turks accept Turkish Kitchen as 3. great one in the world. I haven't seen any tourist dissapointed till now. RAKI is Turkish Sake.. it's 40-45pc alchole...you add water in it then becomes white ( That's why, Turks called it * Lion's Milk * ), please drink RAKI eating and drinking extra water... no need to have head-ache the day after.( If it happens take an asphine* * if not allergic to Asphirine ** , before you go to sleep with some water. ) Doner Kebab..meat slides .. nice ! Click | Warning : Turkish national drink is RAKI and it's about %45 alchole and with adding water becomes white. If you try, you better drink it drinking a lot of water with and Eating. In case you feel bizarre...you better take an asphirine, if you have not allergie, before going to the bed. |
WHAT TO BUY Textile is good quality and cheap, Turkish carpets are quite fameous. In Istanbul.. you will sure visit Kapalicarsi ( Close to hotels area...a covered Bazaar, there you may bargain to 70pc ). WHERE TO GO... ? After Istanbul...( Turkey map ) I advise you to fly to ANTALYA ( D4 )(.. then to stay in KEMER, FETHIYE ( Oludeniz )( B4 ) MARMARIS, BODRUM, CESME, AYVALIK( A2 )... then take a intercity bus to Istanbul( B1 ). Bye the way, we have nice Intercity buses; ask for the Garaj any city..there you are ! ( Even the night busses for long distance such as Istanbul-Antalya, Istanbul Izmir or Istanbul- Bodrum.) If you want to see URGUP + GOREME ..then you better take a intercity car from ISTANBUL. ( see below.. ) Kappadokia. ( nice wines area... ) For peace...Marmaris - Amazon & Dalyan - Happy Caretta Hotel.(in german)+ Turkish HONEY MOON ? Reserve from Istanbul a * Blue Voyage * and fly to Dalaman.. they wait for you there. Or take a intercity bus to BODRUM and you reserve there. One week on a yatch..visit south west coast bay by bay.... Take you mask and tuba with. ( Only summers ) CLICK Scuba diving At Where to go section.. all this cities and towns are by the sea. In 5 days, you may have an international cerficate and quite cheap. Basic places to visit Bergamum -Ephesus - Pamukkale - Urgup. Cappacocia. Exchance All the banks echance All known currencies but better USD or Euro. There are also EXCHANCE OFFICES ..which works faster. Hotels exchances also...but their rates are high. OTHERS No tips for Taxis. At restaurants.. you may let 5-10pc of your bill. Electricity is 220 W. Better.. drink bottled water. NOT TO DO.. No advise for always gentle and polite Japanese cousins ! If we believe there is only one GOD...means we are all sisters and brothers. Let's save the Lonesome Blue Planet. We got no place to escape anyway...
